Well I didn't want to contradict shockwave77598 after he made the obvious suggestion (when in doubt, make everything friends-only).  But I really hate friends-only journals.  I know almost no one IRL and if someone's journal is friends-locked then I will never meet them online.  Shockwave's situation is unusual: there is basically only one employer for everyone in his field and that employer has a gigantic stick up its collective butt, so he really does need to be careful.  For the rest of us it's just fun to feel fursecuted, I guess.  Lots of websites have a "flag this post" button, but when LJ gets one it's the end of the world.

There doesn't seem to be any real downside to making posts like this one.  The worst that can happen is that I get banned.  So fucking what, it's just a website!  If they ban me, a paid-account holder, for posting something in my own journal that obviously falls under the US parody/satire exemption, then LJ will have taken an extreme turn towards authoritarianism and the furries will soon be leaving en masse, so there would have been no reason for me to stay anyway.

Someday, for some reason, LJ will no longer meet the needs of the furry fandom and we will have to move elsewhere.  Some furs still long for the days of USENET, and surely some in the post-LJ world will long for what we still have today, but life will go on and we will roll with the punches.
