Date: 2010-06-16 03:18 am (UTC)The doom of the USA isn't a foregone conclusion, but a few people with way too much money are actively buying propaganda to try to make it happen. If "everyone" expects a war, then random events get interpreted as signs that the war has begun, which then justifies itself like an ouroboros. The South Shall Rise Again! And something like 30% of Americans polled seemed to think this would be perfectly okay.
