Thanks!  I had thought the odds greater than 50% that no one would comment here.  Once, when the SomethingAwful folks tried to read it, it seemed none of them could get past episode #6.  Perhaps #13 would be good for you?

I blush to admit that, while I'm sure you are someone I know, I'm not entirely sure which one you are.

If you are who I think you are, you and your wife have the same first initial. You used to live in western Wayne County in a house with a basement. I visited that basement once, but I don't remember why -- perhaps to help move something to or from a con. It was a long time ago.

As I remember you, you speak sometimes very rapidly and from great knowledge, and then stop to show a very engaging smile.

Actually, it is unlikely that we have ever met.  You were mentioned on jrittenhouse's journal as someone he should read, so I added you too because my friends-list is deficient in Jews—yes that is a very shallow reason to add someone!

My name begins with J; my wife's with L.  I have only ever lived in Massachusetts and New Jersey.  I *do* spend a lot of time in my basement, though!

Dunno about the "engaging smile", but the "rapidly and from great knowledge" baton has now been passed to my daughter.

Mr. Kestenbaum you have either just made a terrible joke or have been well sheltered from even the most basic of antisemitic thought. Your LJ name easily could have lead someone to suspect your heritage among the Chosen People.

I never post to my own blog so I'll not pass this on, but I will say that I remember you once had written a script that detected a person's location and presented it to them when they visited your board. It showed me as being in San Francisco, which was not even close to my real location as I was behind a proxy. I also pointed out that the script did not even correctly state my proxy's location as it was located closer to Sacramento. Then next time I returned the script listed my location as "Proxyville, USA." It made me smile.
