Guess I'm an Al Gore fanboy

I think I sort of understand where Gore is at these days. The only way he can win is if we have a pair of back-to-back Katrina-level disasters next year. Nobody who actually cares about anyone besides himself could possibly be happy about that: his election requires that a large number of working-class Americans must die in order to force the Powers That Be to take notice of the approaching apocalypse. Does Gore want to run? Not if that's what it will take to win. Does Gore want to have won? Of course!
So Gore continues his work, spreading the Inconvenient Truth, throwing his staff down before Pharaoh over and over, knowing that someday it will turn into a snake that eats those of the Pharaoh's snake-charmers, knowing that many innocent firstborn Egyptian children will have to die before Pharaoh will let his people go.
There is a messianic quality to Gore that (to me) seems more authentic than Obama's. Obama and Edwards are both professional leaders looking for a cause to lead. Gore found his cause back in college.
