Here is Jonathan Corbet talking about GNU Emacs 22.  Only about 11 of the 971 new features of Emacs 22 are mentioned, but mine is one of them.

I would have mentioned this a week ago, but I'm too cheap to pay for a subscription to LWN, so the news is always a week old before I get it.

Flymake looks awesome! On the fly syntax checking is pretty nice in Eclipse for Java and C/C++ development but I do a lot of programming through a console window on a remote machine and Eclipse is unbearable via remote X11 connection.
