End of April
Apr. 30th, 2006 10:36 pmThe precocious 11-yo daughter, lugging around a dogeared copy of War and Peace was *not* my kid! We have never even visited Nashville! And anyway, she's 12 now.
This month's Ranger Rick has a red fox on the cover. Red foxes live in the boreal forest of Canada. In this month's cartoon, one of the animals brings a lot of toilet paper on a camping trip. The foxes in the forest complain because many trees are cut down to make TP. To save the forests we must recycle our paper.
Um, excuse me? Recycle our toilet paper! I don't know *anyone* who tries to use that stuff again! I used to buy Marcal® toilet paper (recycled from post-consumer waste) until they stopped distributing the 2-ply stuff and went whole-hog on the 1000-sheet/roll crap.
Here are anti-Semitic cartoons drawn by Jews. The "blood libel" seems a repeating theme in these drawings.

And the northern boundary of the boreal forest cannot move beyond physical barriers that already limit it in several places, like Hudson Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, or the Arctic Ocean.
Also, purely from geometry, you must realise that if you move a ring northward, its area becomes smaller as it all gets closer to the pole.
