Severance progress

I have selected Stephen Console LLC to represent me in severance negotiations with company ℱ.  I will be meeting with them next Thursday to discuss my options.

At 5:30 PM today, ℱ finally sent me a revised contract I can actually dare to sign before talking to my lawyer.  Meanwhile one of the four weeks covered in the contract was spent "on vacation" because it took them so long to revise it.  But anyway, I'm back at work starting Monday.

Congrats on contract negotiations. Though your moniker for the 'company that shall not be named' (could it be Lord Voldemort in the corporate world!? Harry Potter we NEED you!) ... I'm more suspect and leaning to think it's some relative of "The Artist Formerly and now once again known as Prince"

I suppose ℱ sort of looks like Prince's symbol (which consists of a horn and the masculinity sign, plus whatever that crossbar means).  Company ℱ is a ne'er-do-well in the corporate world, hence rather unlike Lord Voldemort, Prince of Evil.

I would talk to the lawyer before signing anything at all, but it looked like you signed already. What does a contract do for you? They could employ you without it, on an "at will" basis like I work.

I suspect that any contract - even the most generous - will be used as an excuse to screw you under your old contract. My paranoia again, projected onto your situation, maybe?

"At will" is an employee.  I am no longer an employee of the company and will not do anything that makes me seem like an employee, as that would interfere with all the severance they owe me.  The contract is a fixed fee/fixed term for helping them get a couple of products out the door during April.  I can't wait for the lawyer before signing it because then half the month would be over already.
