Comedic web wanderings

Stephen Colbert
is an American deadpan comedian. His wife's name is Evelyn
McGee-Colbert (says Wikipedia and various sources derived from them; other
sources say her name is not hyphenated; dunno about their children's last
names). He has his own TV show, the
Colbert Report.
Colbert's own website has a link to an "unofficial" fan site, Colbert Nation. That site is run by Avery Gordon, who happens to be a paid Colbert employee. Okay boys and girls, can you say "astroturfing"? I knew you could! Because you folks *get* it! I think the funniest joke at Colbert Nation is the online shop. They emphasize that all the items are "made in America", but unfortunately they're out of stock right now because every item they received had manufacturing defects!
Colbert works for Jon Stewart's production company. The list of famous quotes for Stewart does not include my favorite: "I used to live in South Jersey, but now I live in Jersey." (The area called "Joisey" is very small and Stewart doesn't live there.) One quote that *is* listed is from his hosting of the 2001 Grammy awards, where his jokes bombed. He said: "Ladies and gentlemen, I just want to say I feel your scorn and accept it." When I read that, I thought of my most recent public post. Ladies and gentlefurs, I accept your scorn and want you all to know that I will be retiring the poetic-analysis tag on this journal.
