The New York Times reports that President Trump said he envisions a place where poisonous snakes thrive in swampy conditions by spending their days wallowing in a large cement structure surrounded by a spiked fence while hissing and spitting at anything that comes near, always ready to sink their fangs into perceived enemies and happy to eat their own if it serves their interests. Then he said, "But enough about the White House, let's talk about my border moat."

I would love a border moat! It has that sort of over-the-top showmanship that I've come to expect from Trump. I'd have concerns about the welfare of the snakes and alligators, though. Anti-personnel mines would produce almost as many YouTube moments, without the humanitarian concerns.

Mexican humans are mammals, so they should receive at least as much humanitarian concern as the snakes and the alligators (which taste like quail).

I see malefactors. The best among this lot - the most benignly intentioned, intend to make money by breaking the law. They don't care who gets hurt. If honest Americans can't find a job, if the earning power of poor Americans is degraded, if housing costs go up, that's immaterial to them. The worst ones sneaking over the border are flat-out Islamic terrorists. And in between those two extremes, of course, you have the whores, drug dealers, thieves, rapists, and murderers.
