If I were drawing that picture, I'd make fall a bit larger... it does seem to last from September to November. But spring always seems to be only a week or two.
It's *finally* starting to melt up here, with some nice bright sunny days and water dripping from the icicles (although there's still 3 feet of snow on the roof). I shouldn't get too excited; it's only early March, and we'll certainly have lots more snow and cold before it's all over. Still, the sunshine has really helped my mood; it's been a brutal (cold & lots of snow) winter up here. I'm sure ready for spring!
You're not *that* far north, right? Compared to your Edmonton house-sit last year?
"Mr. Bear" is really hot to get me back. He's offered plane tickets and hotel rooms if I would bring my family to the 2014E conference. but we've already told Immigration Canada that we won't be leaving the country for the next three months so would they please assign us the soonest-available oath ceremony!
Nope; I'm at 45.0°N (compared with your 43.4°); last year was 53.1°N. But that's not entirely useful, as the isotherms don't match the lines of latitude. Still, it's not as cold as Alberta was!
I'm surprised Mr. Bear is trying to bribe you like that, as there seems to be little value in having you at the conference. Perhaps it's just that he could write off such an attendance as a business expense, whereas if he gave you the equivalent value in cash or travel somewhere else, it wouldn't be.
I'd actually consider going back to Mr. Bear myself, if I wasn't so busy with my current job. Having a diversity of skills (especially if I added jQuery and/or mobile PHP/HTML) could be useful. I'm becoming extremely specialized right now, and that's not transferable to another job.
Surely Immigration Canada would give you advance notice (either positive or negative) about spaces at the ceremony? If you told them you needed to travel "for business purposes", surely they would be understanding.
This very much reminds me of Cleveland, Ohio weather. I think actually Cleveland gets more snow and maybe a lot more snow depending on which side of the city you come from.
