Wave analysis of higher-education trends

Wow!  You can use candlestick analysis on *anything*!  Here is a chart showing that college/university enrollment is probably going to fall at least 20% over the next decade.  I thought that higher ed was "overbought" back when I was there in the 80's; too many kids were going who really couldn't benefit from it and all they got was a "flunked out of college" for their résumé.  This chart says the problem has gotten markedly worse since then, but the same long-term oscillations that led to the rise will soon cause a "correction" in the college attendance "market".

You bring up an interesting point about flunking out... might it be interesting to add graduation rate to this chart? Not sure what statistics are available for that, but it might be useful.

And what about different types of colleges, like community colleges, private technical schools, and then more standard universities?

I think the people who produced this chart were trying to prove their preconceived notion that Elliot Wave theory can be used to analyze anything that looks remotely like a stock-price chart.  They don't actually care about education because the thing they're selling is the analysis tool.
